What bible book should i read next

Where should I start reading the Bible?

We have the privilege of accessing God’s word for us in the Bible, which is a great way to learn about God, His love, and what He’s done for all mankind.

We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word and is our final authority for living as followers of Christ. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that the Bible is God-breathed and its words can equip us for every good work. Reading the Bible is wonderful for helping us grow closer in our relationship with God. We can walk through life with God’s guidance and direction!

Yet, if you’ve never read the Bible before, it can be intimidating to know where to start. When you pick up a Bible, it feels heavy and thick. Open it up, and you find out this big book has 66 smaller books inside, each with their own individual chapters and verses.

How can anyone know where to begin?

We understand how reading the Bible for the first time can feel overwhelming. Everyone has been there at some point. That’s why we wanted to share some recommendations on where you can start reading the Bible. So read on below and begin an exciting journey with God and His word!

It’s all about Jesus

Suppose a Christian were stranded on a deserted island and could only select 12 books of the Bible from which to read. Which books would be most valuable? Which books are most important for understanding the character of God, the person of Christ, how God redeems a fallen world, the mission of the church, and the daily life of a believer? Pause for a moment and consider which 12 books you would select in such a (terrible) situation. Not which books you like best, but which are the most important.

I can already feel pushback, “But they’re all important!” Yes, I heartily agree; they are all key. They are not only important; they are God’s inspired Word. Moreover, in a crucial instinct, you need them all to have access to the whole counsel of God. But all books are not equally vital for all people living at every historical moment. Obadiah’s oracle against Edom was extremely vital for an Edomite living in the time of Obadiah, and I’m sure that John’s brief letter to Gaius (3 John) was really important to Gaius. Moreover, each contains important lessons to learn about God and his ways (the holiness of God and faithfulness to God’s revelation, for example). But nei

Which book in the Bible should i read?

Well greetings and blessings in Christ! And welcome to our forum.

I started in the Book of Matthew myself, and I really zeroed in on it, so if you focused primarily on Matthew for awhile you wouldn't go wrong in my opinion. But it's all about going where the Spirit of God leads you, so make the following a habit and you will get the most out of your Bible study time:

1. Pray regularly, asking Him to guide you to a book or passage that would teach you something good, asking that the Holy Spirit reveal to you what the meaning is and what was being talked about.

2. Listen to what He starts showing you, and stop when you receive something.

3. Meditate on it, until what He teaches you becomes part of you. I used to not do this part until I noticed a recurring trend. He would teach me something in scripture, but because I didn't meditate on it to get it down inside me, it would skip my mind and I would have to learn it over again. So a year later He would show me again, and I would think, "Wow, this is great... hey wait a minute, haven't I learned this before somewhere?..." LoL.

First Books of the Bible for Young Christians to Read

Young Christians – either in terms of their age or the recency of their conversion – understand they should read the Bible, and even desire to. A major problem they encounter is knowing where to start. What are the best books of the Bible for young Christians to start with?

All of Scripture is God’s authoritative, inspired Word, but some books are more conducive for a young Christian’s first reading of the Bible than others. Earlier in my ministry career, I met monthly with a young Christian in his first year out of college, and I selected Jeremiah as our first book to read together. I cringe to remember my lack of wisdom in this decision. When we met up a month later, he sheepishly admitted that he had quit reading by Jeremiah 5. He was utterly clueless about what was going on in Jeremiah and understood little to nothing. His embarrassment and failure were my fault.

In negative terms, books like Jeremiah that require a great deal of redemptive historical and theological knowledge are not a great place to start. For example, Ezekiel or Jeremiah require deep knowledge about the divided kingdom and the exile. A young Christi

Spending time in the Word of God is so important to growing your faith! If you’re a new christian or just new to Bible study you may be wondering “What book of the Bible should I read first?”

While their may not be any RIGHT answers, there are definitely WRONG answers (looking at you Song of Solomon and Revelation)!

The Bible is telling one BIG story, but it’s also comprised of smaller stories in 66 total Bible books by over 40 human authors.

Think of the Bible like a river–all flowing in one direction. You don’t want to drop in completely midstream where the water is flowing fast and you have no idea what’s going on, but there are also a lot of easy places where the water slows and it’s a great time to hop in!

New Testament Books to Start Reading

The New Testament is a great place to start reading as the storyline of Jesus entrance into the world kicks off! All of the rest of the Bible is all pointing toward Jesus–so for those who are new to faith or even just curious about faith the gospels (the first four books of the New Testament) are a great place to start!
