NEXT for AUTISM FELLOWS is a national scholarship program for students interested in working with neurodivergent adults. The goal of the scholarship is 1) to provide financial support for students pursuing an undergraduate education, whether just starting at a 2- or 4-year college program, or Direct Support Professionals going back to school, and 2) encourage future, and current, health and human service professionals to choose a rewarding career path working with autistic and neurodivergent adults.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be high school seniors/students who recently graduated high school, or with a GED equivalent or current college freshman/students who recently finished their first year of undergraduate study
  • Candidates may be currently employed as a direct service professional and seeking higher education

    About the Scholarship

    The NEXT for AUTISM Fellows Scholarship is available to undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in the health or human services fields. Students who are currently working or are planning to work as a direct service provider for adults with autism and/or an intellectual disability are eligible to apply. Special consideration is given to those committed to serving the autism population after graduation.

  • Resident of the U.S.
  • Attending Hunter College, the University of Illinois in Chicago, Mercy University, SUNY Empire, or Temple University
  • Undergraduate or graduate student
  • Seeking an associate, bachelor's, or graduate degree
  • Studying for a degree in the health, human services, or related fields
  • Full or parttime student

      Thanks to the proceeds Night of Too Many Stars, NEXT launched a grants program in 2008 with the mission of impacting autistic individuals today by supporting autism programs and services nationwide. In recent years NEXT has added a focus on programs that reach transitional age and adult populations, which are often underfunded as well as championing autistic led and centered initiatives. Our team is inspired by the amazing organizations that are providing enriching opportunities for autistic adults throughout the U.S.

      You may qualify if you answer 'yes' to any of the questions below.

        Montclair State University, University Illinois Chicago, Hunter College, Mercy University, PACE University, SUNY Empire, Temple University
      • Are you pursuing a degree in a Health or Human Services field?
      • Are you currently working as a DSP and looking to go back to school?
      • Are you interested and able to work 800 hours annually earning paid, hands-on experience supporting autistic adults while in school?
