Brian snitker could leave the braves after next season.
Out of all of the things that have gone wrong in Atlanta, Braves manager Brian Snitker is low on the totem pole in terms of the overall impact of failing facets.
Some fans might not want to acknowledge that, but at the end of the day, the players and Alex Anthopoulos are mostly to blame. There’s no head coach/manager in major professional sports that have less to do with the outcome of winning and losing quite like managers in baseball.
Now, that doesn’t mean Brian Snitker’s hands are clean of all of this. He’s made plenty of head-scratching decisions throughout this disappointing season, and it does feel like it’ll be his last season as skipper in Atlanta.
There have been multiple reports that Snitker is considering retirement after nearly 50 years with the organization. All signs point to Brian Snitker stepping back in 2026.
So, who will replace him? While the 2025 campaign was brutal, this will still be a highly coveted job in the winter. According to Bob Nightengale, not only will Snit re

That sound you hear is the clock winding down on the Atlanta Braves’ frustrating, disappointing 2025 season. Less than two months remain until the 50-67 Braves officially put 2025 behind them, and the end may be nearing for veteran manager Brian Snitker. The expectation remains that Snitker, who turns 70 in October, will retire after nearly a decade leading the Braves.
Despite this year’s struggles, it’s hard to call anything but Snitker’s Braves tenure a success, considering that he’s won six division titles and, most importantly, a 2021 World Series title.
You probably haven’t heard legendary Braves center fielder Andruw Jones’ name in those conversations, and understandably so. Jones, a five-time All-Star who is inching closer to entering the Hall of Fame, has never managed or served on a big-league coaching staff. However, he’s set to manage the Kingdom of the Netherlands team in next year’s World Baseball Classic, and it isn’t unrealistic to wonder if the next step is him eventually leading the Braves.

According to MLB.com, the possibility of Snitker retiring has only grown over the past few weeks, as the Braves have played below-average baseball and now find themselves in fourth place in the National League East, a position the team didn’t expect to be in entering the season. âThe assumption Snitker will retire at the end of this season has only grown stronger over the past few months. Walt Weiss might be the top internal candidate. If the team goes with an external option, David Ross and Skip Schumaker sho
