2025 Volkswagen Tiguan: Full Pricing and Specs Announced Ahead of May Launch

Volkswagen has confirmed pricing and specifications for the all-new 2025 Tiguan mid-sized SUV ahead of its Australian arrival in May. The third-generation Tiguan will be offered in five main variants, with petrol engines ranging from front-wheel drive to performance-focused all-wheel drive.

The entry-level Tiguan 110TSI Life starts from $44,990 before on-road costs. It comes equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, 19-inch alloy wheels, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, and a 360-degree camera.

Standard safety equipment across the range includes nine airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, front and rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and dynamic road sign assist. Semi-autonomous parking and vehicle braking when turning are also included.

The mid-tier 110TSI Elegance is priced from $50,690 and adds chrome exterior detailing, leather-appointed seats, power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage, and LED Plus headlights. Optional features include a panoramic sunroof ($2,1

VW’s new Tiguan takes fight to SUV heartland

WITH the long-lived second-generation Tiguan now finally clocking off after a nine-year production run, the arrival of the third iteration signals a strategic shift for Volkswagen in Australia – vehicle dynamics are still a priority, but the brand is now going against the grain and actively pushing downward into the meatiest part of the mainstream.

The new Tiguan range spans a price window from $44,990 to $70,490 (before on-road costs), with three powertrains (110TSI, 150TSI and 195TSI) shared across three trim levels (Life, Elegance and R-Line).

The 150TSI and 195TSI resolutely play in a space where Volkswagen is already popular: in the latter years of the previous-generation Tiguan, it was the powerful 162TSI that was the top seller, followed by the even more potent Tiguan R.

With the latest Tiguan, power is still expected to prevail in the sales mix, but the substantially sharper offering of the new 110TSI is expected to find more favour among mainstream buyers who’ve typically seen the Tiguan as being ‘not for them’.

Volkswagen prices Tiguan ahead of May Aussie debut

Ahead of its May local launch, Volkswagen Australia has revealed local pricing and specifications for the third-generation Tiguan mid-size SUV. Priced from $44,990 plus on-road costs, the new Tiguan starts $1,000 more than the old model but is larger and better equipped than before.

The range is headlined by the new 195TSI R-Line, which Volkswagen says is a replacement for both the former 162TSI R-Line and the full-fat Tiguan R. Priced at $70,490 +ORC, it’s $9,990 more than the 162TSI R-Line but $3,300 less than the R.

Volkswagen has also added new models in the middle of the range and despite the price increase, the base 110TSI Life is now much better equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, a larger 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, an electric tailgate, a 360-degree camera, built-in satellite navigation, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and DAB+ digital radio.

As before, three turbocharged petrol drivetrains will be available in the new Tiguan: a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre, 150kW/320Nm 2.0-litre and uprated 195kW/400Nm 2.0-litre. All three are mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission

Volkswagen Tiguan 2025 Review - International

The new Tiguan’s upgrades are mostly for the betterment of the breed with excellent interior design, strong powertrains and a super solid drive experience

The current Volkswagen Tiguan has been caught in a financial few-men’s-land due to five- and seven-seat versions and high-tech engines, but Volkswagen is working to rectify that with the next-generation 2025 Tiguan. The new mid-size SUV arrives in Australia in the second quarter of 2025 and will pivot towards a fatter equipment list in the low-powered models while offering three engine outputs and a heavily revised interior and tech package. Both front- and all-wheel drive versions are on the menu while the seven-seater will arrive a little later bearing the Tayron name and its own styling. Intrigued? You should be.

How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

It’s all change with the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, with the heavily revamped compact SUV arriving here in the second quarter of 2025 with a strong top-end and a greater focus on high-specification equipment levels in the lower-horsepower models.
