In the world of political thrillers full of action and intrigue, you would be hard-pressed to find someone who does them more successfully than David Baldacci. With more than 40 titles and 130 million books in print, which have been published in 45 languages in over 80 countries, Baldacci has been entertaining readers for decades with well-spun tales of spies, government agents, and mystery.
But let’s say you love political thrillers, but have never read David Baldacci. (No shame, we all have gaps in our reading educations.) Where would you start? Don’t worry, we have you covered! Here’s a look at one of Baldacci’s most exciting series, the Will Robie books in order (although you can also enjoy them out of order). Buckle up—you are in for quite a ride!
The Will Robie Books in Order
Say you’re the US government and you need a mission carried out by the most professional, skilled, accomplished assassin. Who do you call? Will Robie, that’s who. A lethal American operative, skilled at carrying out top-secret assignments quickly and efficiently, it’s Robie’s job to assess threats to the United States and stop them before th
Ahead of his next book, A Calamity of Souls, which comes out April 16, bestselling novelist David Baldacci talks about his writing, his other projects, and what he loves about NoVA.
Calamity is a story of a white Virginia lawyer defending a Black guy charged with murder in 1968. How did it come about and how much of your younger life is in it?
A great deal of it is autobiographical, I mean, where Jack [Lee, the main character] grew up, the sort of neighborhood and background, the working-class background he had, the friends and family that he had, the sort of experiences that you read about in the publication mirror some of the things that happened to me as a kid. It was very personal. … And this is a book that has been percolating for a while in my head, and I wrote it off and on for over a decade. I got to the point where I don’t even know if it’s relevant anymore. And then I went back and read some of what I’ve written and I felt like well, if I didn’t tell you it was 1968, you would just assume it’s contemporary, so I thought it’s probably still relevant.

NOVEMBER 2025 CRIME ROUND-UP: NEW BOOKS BY SIMON KERNICK, DAVID BALDACCI AND DAVID HEWSON
The Christmas and summer holiday season (at least in Australia) is nearly on us and I have recently read three books that would make for ideal reading over the festive season, or as great gifts for the crime and thriller aficionado in your family.
Simon Kernick is one of those authors who never fails to entertain. You always know what you are going to get with a Kernick novel: fast frenetic action, twists, bloodshed and plenty of surprises, and that is certainly the case with his latest novel, You All Die Tonight (Headline, November 2024).
You All Die Tonight centres on an interesting premise. Seven people wake up drugged in a remote British mansion. None of them have any idea where they are or who brought them there. All of them recognise each other though, as they are all connected to a horrific massacre four years earlier. As they try to escape, a disembodied voice echoes through the house, advising that they have all been poisoned and have less than 12 hours to live. There is an antidote on hand, but only if someone admits to being the killer. As the killer advises: “If
