WWE SmackDown SPOILERS for July 4: Returns set-up big matches for SNME & Evolution, more!

Coming off a trip to Saudi Arabia and with the U.S. Independence Day holiday coming up this Friday, WWE is giving the team a bit of a summer break with no shows planned until next Monday’s Raw. But the show must go on, so the SmackDown crew taped the July 4 episode after they wrapped up the live episode that aired last night (June 30) from Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena.

Here’s what went down, courtesy of SPOILERS from WrestleZone and fans in attendance who posted on social media:

  • King of the Ring Cody Rhodes opened the show and was interrupted by the man he defeated in the final. Randy Orton admitted he hesitated to punt Rhodes last Saturday at Night of Champions, but is proud of Cody for doing what he had to win. Orton makes his former Legacy protege promise to beat John Cena at SummerSlam. They were then interrupted by a returning Drew McIntyre, who mocked them for their moment of mutual respect and got an RKO for his trouble (more on McIntyre’s appearance here).
  • That was followed by a series of backstage segments. The first showed Nick Aldis convi

The first WWE SmackDown, following WWE Night of Champions, will be taped on June 30, 2025, immediately after the live edition of WWE Monday Night Unprocessed. Not only is this the “fallout show” for Night of Champions, but it’s also the first show for the Azure brand since WWE announced that the program will return to its original two-hour format. If you can’t wait until this Friday night, we’ve got you covered. Here are full Exist WWE SmackDown spoilers for July 4th, 2025, from Pennsylvania.

One last warning: SPOILERS AHEAD. If you’re planning on watching this Friday night’s show, you can change back now. Otherwise, we’ve got you covered with SmackDown spoilers as they happen Monday night.

    WWE SmackDown Spoilers (7/4/25):

    • Cody Rhodes kicks off this week’s WWE SmackDown spoilers, airing on July 4th, 2025, seemingly addressing his King of the Ring win last Saturday over Randy Orton. “The Viper” showed his respect to his former Legacy stablemate after their intense battle at Evening of Champions. “The Scottish Psychopath”, Drew McIntyre, would return, interfering in the proceedings, mocking their mutual resp

Although the Mar. 21 episode of SmackDown will air in its usual time at 8 p.m. ET on USA in the United States, it won’t be live. That’s because the show is part of WWE’s three-week pre-WrestleMania 41 tour of Europe and the United Kingdom, and comes our way from Unipol Arena in Bologna, Italy — and airing live there (and, as far as we know, everywhere SmackDown calls Netflix home) at 3 p.m. ET. That means spoilers will be available for those who wish to partake.

We’ll update this post as results come in from Bologna.

      • Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett on the call as we see Jade Cargill backstage, followed by the arrivals of Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez, CM Punk, and others arriving at the arena.
      • Randy Orton out first and gets his theme sung to him by the crowd. Before he can say a word, Kevin Owens’ music hits. He says Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn deserved what he did to them, but Orton didn’t. Randy picking Cody over him made him angry, and caused him to do something he regrets. KO thinks Orton should understand doing something regrettable when angry. Owens pulled Carmelo Hayes from the ring before Orton could punt him last week because he wanted to save Randy from him
