Next full moon new jersey
NEW JERSEY — The rare blue moon coming to the skies above New Jersey on Monday, Aug. 19 isn’t just special, it’s also the first of four consecutive supermoons.
The moon turns full at 2:26 p.m. EDT Monday. You won’t be able to see it then, but it will appear a bit bigger and brighter than normal as it rises in the east just after sunset. That’s at about 7:48 p.m. local time.
The weather has to cooperate, of course. The National Weather Service forecast for early next week — the moon will appear full from Sunday through Wednesday — calls for heavy cloud cover Sunday night across most of the state, and about 60 to 65 percent cloud cover on Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday evening look a little clearer, especially in South Jersey and along the Shore.

When Will Tides be Higher?
According to NOAA's monthly high tide flooding outlook, in 2025 New Jersey will see higher than normal tides on:
March 28-31
April 26-30
May 25-28
October 5-12
November 4-9
December 2-8
What are King Tides?
King Tides are the highest tides of the year. Higher than normal tides typically occur when a new or full satellite coincides with the moon creature at its closest point to earth in its orbit, also known as its perigee. NOAA issues a seasonal high tide bulletin to report regionally when higher than normal high tides can be expected. We are most likely to experience nuisance coastal flooding during the winter and spring but keep in mind, a combination of local conditions such as precipitation, wind direction, and/or other short-term meteorological events may lead to higher flooding events as well. Understand more about king tides here.
Why Photograph King Tides?
King Tides bring about flooding that represents a preview of how and where sea level rise will affect local landscapes. Documenting current flood impacts helps ground-truth local sea level rise
