Creating the best environment for young players to reach their full potential, whatever their aspiration. Setting new standards to develop the next generation of talent for the U.S., Canada, and the world.

We are focused on delivering world-class player development for the top talent in the U.S. and Canada. This requires a commitment to the central areas of player development.  An often-overlooked segment of elite player development in youth sports is the implementation of plans for individual growth. MLS NEXT clubs are encouraged to develop holistic and individualized plans for the growth of each player, including technical, tactical, physical, mental, academic, and college placement.

How much does it cost?

For an entire year of soccer, the Program Registration Fee amounts to $4,000 ($2,000 if joining mid-season). Additionally, team fees for travel may vary depending on the frequency and destination of team trips, ranging from $2,000 to $7,250. Individual fees, estimated at approximately $500-750, are also required to cover expenses such as uniform kits and other essential equipment for each player.

Please note that players are expected to commit to this program for a full seasonal year, spanning from August to July. It is important to emphasize that participation in our MLS NEXT program precludes playing high school soccer. Therefore, we kindly request that you refrain from registering if you do not intend to make a full-year commitment.

Soccer Academy to partner with Southern Soccer Academy Swarm FC and compete in MLS NEXT

Darlington School and the Darlington School Soccer Academy are excited to announce a strategic partnership with Southern Soccer Academy Swarm FC that will provide access to top-tier developmental pathways for our student-athletes. Beginning in the fall of 2025, Darlington School Soccer Academy will become the Southern Soccer Swarm Residential Academy and gain access to SSA Swarm's MLS NEXT platforms.   

“This partnership will give our current players and recent alumni instant player pathway options during both the college recruiting process and college playing careers,” said Chad Liddle, director of Darlington School Soccer Academy. “SSA Swarm currently has a USL 2 team.” 

Swarm FC ​​is a collaboration between Intrepid Sports and Brentford FC of the English Premier League, with Southern Soccer Academy Swarm FC taking its place as the flagship club for the partnership.

The platform, created by Major League Soccer in 2020, includes more than 8,000 players throughout the U.S. and Canada, and consists of elite year-round competition, as well as player identification initiatives, coaching education opportunities, and additional programming to create the premier player development environment.


SSA will contain one clubwide MLS Next team in each age group, coached by USSF/UEFA 'A' licensed coaches, and will practice and perform out of our Marietta-area venues, including Marathon Park. Teams will play a year-round schedule of regular-season games, college showcase events, and playoffs requiring players to forgo the traditional High Academy spring season.

SSA's MLS Next Tier teams will also practice and play out of the Marietta area, with U13-U14 teams playing a year-round schedule and the U15-U19 teams playing a Fall-only season.
